What is credit freeze?

What is credit freeze?

In more severe cases of identity theft, it may be necessary to cease all activity on your financial accounts. Advanced thieves may attempt to continue with their schemes, even after you report their actions to the authorities. Fortunately, there are methods of completely discontinuing further incidents of this crisis.

Most states have now incited laws which permit consumers to place freezes on their credit lines. By placing a credit freeze on your account, potential creditors are prohibited from accessing your credit history, rejecting any penetration attempts prior to application. Within the duration of the credit freeze, it is impossible for creditors to access your financial records. This makes it implausible to receive credit offers under your name, disallowing account commencement from the perpetrator.

Furthermore, a credit freeze will not affect your financial records, and will not be even visible on your credit score. Additionally, you will retain the complimentary allotment of an annual credit report.

In most states, the obtaining of a credit freeze requires proof of identity theft. In other locations, the only requirement is a written request for the service. To attain a credit freeze, contact your local credit bureau for more information.
