Identity Fraud Protection - Why ID Secure?

Submitted by oversee on Mon, 08/11/2008 - 19:18

For those of you that want additional identity fraud protection, we offer ID Secure, the most comprehensive identity theft protection in the marketplace today.  The information below, explains the functionality that is included with this product.  Once you've read the information, we're convinced that you'll give it a try.

•    Credit Security: ID Secure (using Credit Security powered by Debix) submits and renews fraud alert requests to all three credit reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian) to help consumers prevent new accounts fraud. A potential credit issuer can request that ID Secure call you with a potential fraud warning anytime anyone applies for credit in your name. At that point, you must provide a pre-established personal security code to authorize the opening of a new account.

•    Internet Fraud Surveillance: ID Secure works for you 24 hours a day everyday, monitoring chat rooms and websites and employing web crawlers to search for fraudulent activity on up to 10 ATM or credit cards and one social security number per membership. Should anything suspicious be detected, members will be alerted immediately via email. Internet fraud surveillance is powered by CardCops, a highly recognized leader in the detection and prevention of identity fraud.  CardCops has been prominently positioned in the Media.

•    Public Records Report: This is a comprehensive report that contains uses of a person’s name in federal, state, county, and financial records. Instead of having to access this information from several different locations, members will be able to view all information regarding bankruptcies, liens, judgments, property sales and purchases, licenses, misdemeanors, felonies and other similar information all in one place. One report is offered per membership per year.

•    Public Records Monitoring: As a member, you will receive quarterly updates via e-mail to alert you if any new criminal records, bankruptcies, liens or judgments have been filed under your identity.

•    Data Sweep: This aspect of the ID Secure services regularly searches all public information databases and popular search engines for information like your current and past addresses and phone numbers. If this information is found, you will be notified and you will have the option of reviewing and/or deleting that information from the public domain. A new data sweep search is conducted for  members every two weeks.

•    Personal Caseworker: If identity theft does occur, you will have personal, professional assistance to restore your good name, file paperwork, and provide guidance and answers to your questions.

•    $25,000 ID Theft Insurance: Members can receive up to $25,000 per membership in a twelve-month period if they suffer a covered financial loss from online or offline identity theft. Costs generally covered include fees associated with refilling loans or grants, and wages lost due to time off work spent repairing and restoring an identity. And, in the event they are necessary, it will also cover legal costs for certain identity theft-related litigation. Unfortunately, this insurance is not available to residents of the state of New York*.

•    S.A.F.E. Score:  Using an interactive, online, quiz a person’s S.A.F.E. score is generated based on his or her answers to questions pertaining to personal behavior, name frequency, and other factors that may increase the likelihood of a stolen identity. Members who take the quiz will also receive advice on how to improve his or her score by altering certain behaviors. Please note: This score is an estimate only and may not predict actual risk.

*The Identity Theft Expense Reimbursement Insurance is underwritten by Virginia Surety Company, Inc. under group policy form # GEN-ID-GMP (8-05). Evidence of coverage under the master policy issued by Virginia Surety Company, Inc.with respect to such insurance will be available to you upon enrollment in IDSecure. The summary of policy benefits, terms, conditions, exclusions, and limits of coverage set forth in the evidence of coverage are subject to the terms of the master policy.
