Plan Review
ID Watchdog
Although billing itself as “the most comprehensive identity theft protection service on the market,” ID Watch excuses itself from one area that just about every other service listed on IdentityTheft.com does cover – credit monitoring and financial information fraud. Of course, you are always entitled to request a free 3-bureau credit report once a year on your own, so if that meets your needs you may be interested in the extensive coverage ID Watchdog offers for non-credit related identity theft protection.
ID Watchdog starts by generating a thorough profile on you – so they know they’re looking out for the right individual, and to give you an opportunity to understand the baseline of your exposure. This is followed by monthly monitoring of thousands of databases:
- Social Security Administration
- Driver or pilot licenses
- Auto, boat and plane registrations
- Criminal records
- Homeland Security watch lists
- Address or name changes
- Bankruptcies, liens and other judgments or filings
Any changes are reported to you and any fraudulent activity launches their ID Rehab service. Once a police report is opened and an ID Theft Affidavit shows proof that damages have occurred, ID Watchdog unleashes its Resolution Agents with a limited Power of Attorney to work toward restoring your good name. Whereas many other ID theft protection outfits simply offer guidance and advice to their clients at this point, ID Watchdog take full responsibility for communicating with the agencies that control your records and taking all necessary actions on your behalf.
There’s no “Million Dollar” guarantee with ID Watchdog, but they do promise to cover all costs of re-securing your identification no matter what it takes.
A stand-out feature of ID Watchdog is its Identity Management Dashboard. This provides you with real-time access to your individual Identity Profile Report. You get to see first-hand all the records located with your information so you know firsthand how secure you are. After all, not even the most accurate scanner in the world is going to know your business better than you know it yourself. If you ever see something amiss, ID Watchdog will track down the source.
ID Watchdog is prices at a somewhat steep $19.95 per month, but that goes down to $12.97 a month if you sign up for a 3-year subscription.
